Czech Republic - Prague Plans to Buy up to 100 electric Buses | Tenders Notice | RFPs Notice

Transport company hl. City of Prague (DPP) is planning to purchase up to 100 urban low-floor electric buses of the Standard type, i.e. with a vehicle length of 12 meters, in the coming years. These days, DPP announced a public contract for their supplier, the total expected value of which is 1.5 billion crowns. DPP will evaluate the offers according to five criteria, one of which is the delivery date of the vehicles. The winner of the tender should be known by the end of this year, DPP will conclude a framework contract with him for five years.

The subject of this public contract is, in addition to the conclusion of a framework contract for the supply of up to 100 low-floor electric buses of the Standard type for city lines according to the specification of the PID Quality Standards, equipped with a check-in and information system and an energy management system, as well as the supply of up to 35 sets of hardware and software for diagnosing faults in electric buses, up to 20 pieces of portable chargers for the possibility of recharging vehicles with a cable and up to 100 new traction accumulators. The public contract also includes the implementation of warranty inspections, warranty, out-of-warranty and post-warranty maintenance and repairs of vehicles, provision of support and development of functions of the check-in and information system, as well as the energy management system and, last but not least, the supply of spare parts and the establishment of a consignment warehouse.

"By purchasing up to 100 new electric buses, we are fulfilling not only the Climate Plan of the capital city of Prague, but also commitments at the national and European level to reduce the energy consumption, emissions and noise burden of public bus transport. It is also another step to ensure the energy security of the capital. m of Prague

and the Czech Republic through reducing dependence on fossil fuels supplied from countries with low levels of democracy and human rights protection. To give you an idea, if DPP were to remove all 100 electric buses and scrap the same number of diesel buses, with an average annual mileage of 60,000 kilometers per vehicle, we would save a total of approximately 2.4 million liters of diesel per year and not release approximately 6,438 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in Prague ," says Zdeněk Hřib, 1st Deputy Mayor of City of Prague for the field of transport and chairman of the DPP supervisory board.

"The purchase of up to 100 new 12-meter electric buses is part of the strategy to renew the DPP bus fleet and the concept of using alternative fuels in the conditions of DPP bus transport, which was approved by the HMP Council in 2020. Their operation will be more gentle on emissions, also with regard to the city's climate commitments and consistent filling climate plan," adds Jana Komrsková, deputy mayor of City of Prague for the environment and climate plan.

"We plan to purchase new electric buses in the 2025-2030 horizon as part of renewing our bus fleet and fulfilling our climate commitments as a public transport operator. They will be part of a mix of vehicles with different drives, alongside battery trolleybuses, hybrid and diesel buses. The framework contract allows us to approach the order flexibly according to our operational needs. The purchase of electric buses is, of course, conditional on the implementation of charging points and power supply infrastructure both in our garages and on selected lines, i.e. at interchanges, respectively. final stops. In total, we have selected approximately 20 locations," adds Petr Witowski, Chairman of the Board and CEO of DPP.

"In the order, we are also based on our previous experience of operating electric buses. One of our requirements is that, in the event of a mass defect, the supplier, at his own expense, within 180 days at the latest, makes modifications to all delivered electric buses that will prevent the occurrence of other defects of the same type. At the same time, a 36-month warranty will automatically be provided for mass defect repairs, regardless of whether the vehicle quality warranty expires in a year or a month," concludes Jan Barchánek, head of the DPP Bus Operation unit.

Guaranteed range of at least 100 kilometers, vehicle lifespan of at least 12 years

The electric buses will be designed for cable charging via the standardized CCS-2 interface, and at the same time it will be possible to recharge them from the trolleybus trolley. Energy management will enable the management and regulation of the charging speed depending on the actual length of the charging break, which will reduce the demands on the energy load of the charging infrastructure and extend the service life of the accumulators. The design speed of the offered vehicles should be at least 80 km/h. All vehicles must be able to recover the energy generated during braking into the traction batteries. The guaranteed range of the offered electric bus must be at least 100 kilometers with the use of heating or air conditioning, ventilation and the prescribed lighting of the vehicle, regardless of the season, climatic or operating conditions in the territory of Prague and the Central Bohemian Region, with reaching maximum speed, with full occupancy and stopping in all stops, including passenger check-in, at intersections and other obstacles, throughout the lifetime of the traction accumulators.

DPP requires a battery life guarantee of at least five years or a mileage of 360,000 kilometers, while during life.
